sshfs is a great method to mount remote file systems over ssh. On OSX, first you need to install sshfs:

brew cask install sshfs

Once done, you can mount your remote volume to a local one

sshfs user@host:/remote/directory/path /local/mount/point -ovolname=mount-name

To unmount a volumne, you simply do:

umount /local/mount/point
